Mastering Your Mouse – 5 Hidden Tricks You Need to Know
Your computer mouse is more powerful than you think! While we all use it for basic clicking and scrolling, there are several hidden tricks that can make your work faster and more efficient. Let’s dive into five lesser-known mouse tricks that will improve your productivity.
1. Open Links in a New Tab Instantly
Tired of right-clicking links and selecting "Open in New Tab"? Just click the link using the middle mouse button (scroll wheel), and it will open in a new tab instantly.
Bonus: You can also close a tab by clicking on it with the middle mouse button!
2. Select Multiple Items Quickly
Instead of selecting files or icons one by one, use these shortcuts:
-
CTRL + Left Click → Select multiple specific items.
-
SHIFT + Left Click → Select a range of items between two clicks.
This works in File Explorer, Word, Excel, and even some websites!
3. Scroll Faster with Middle Click
Instead of dragging the scroll bar up and down, press and hold the middle mouse button (scroll wheel). Move your mouse slightly, and the page will start scrolling automatically based on your movement. This is super helpful for reading long articles!
4. Drag with Right-Click for Extra Options
When dragging a file, use the right mouse button instead of the left. When you release, a menu will appear asking if you want to copy, move, or create a shortcut—giving you more control over your files.
5. Double-Click to Highlight & Triple-Click to Select Everything
-
Double-click a word to instantly highlight it.
-
Triple-click in a paragraph to select the entire paragraph.
This trick works in web browsers, Microsoft Word, and even Notepad!
